The resistive sensor embodies many Alps-specific achievements

The resistive sensor is king of all Alps sensors. It enjoys the longest history and most breakthrough achievements.
Alps has developed various products that meet strict market requirements by gleaning from our variable resistor technology which was originally developed for devices in such areas as the audio field. We have also succeeded in developing products that boast long operating lives, high heat resistance, and high reliability, characteristics which make our products indispensable for car use.

Resistive Sensor

The contact resistive sensor is ideal for a wide range of applications. Compared to non-contact types, its advantage is that it comes in a simple output line design, which eliminates need for auxiliary circuits and reset measures. They come in two types - rotary type (for all position detection needs) and the linear type (which is ideal for products whose focus is on limited size, weight and uniqueness.

Quick responses by a consistently competent manufacturer-level support team for a wide range of diverse needs

Alps provides total solutions. From material development through mechanism design, processing and final assembly, Alps does it all. And through full collaboration between each manufacturing process, Alps continues the quest of reducing lead time in product development while at the same time improving product precision and reliability.

Electric sensor
Resistance to heat and vibration and long operating life are essential elements for electric sensors. Alps successfully developed a resistor body that can bear 1 billion cycles* by using material development technology that includes molecular design, polymer synthesis and material synthesis, and know-how for making thick film that boasts excellent smoothness. Durability to the 500,000 km range - approaching the non-contact type - was also achieved.

Variable resistive sensor
The variable resistive sensor is an essential element of correct device control. It is not a simple product. The resistor's film thickness must be finished in microns. To accomplish the task Alps produced a spaceage resistive ink. Borrowing freely from our heritage and also by applying new ideas, we succeeded (using carbon) to build a resistor that is as smooth as a mirror. Applying this technical ability Alps is making further improvements on linearity.
