Resistance to heat and vibration and long operating life
are essential elements for electric sensors. Alps successfully
developed a resistor body that can bear 1 billion cycles*
by using material development technology that includes
molecular design, polymer synthesis and material
synthesis, and know-how for making thick film that boasts
excellent smoothness. Durability to the 500,000 km range
- approaching the non-contact type - was also achieved.
*Based on Alps' internal testing - not meant to imply a guaranteed value.

Variable resistive sensor |
Realized a flatness of ±1µm by integrating proprietary technologies |
|
 |
|
| The variable resistive sensor is an essential element
of correct device control. It is not a simple product.
The resistor's film thickness must be finished in microns.
To accomplish the task Alps produced a spaceage
resistive ink. Borrowing freely from our heritage
and also by applying new ideas, we succeeded (using
carbon) to build a resistor that is as smooth as a
mirror. Applying this technical ability Alps is making
further improvements on linearity.
